This is a great time to join the Charlevoix County Democratic Party!
There are two ways to join. The first way is to join the Michigan Democratic Party. State membership automatically makes you a member of the county party of your county of residence. A portion of your state dues will come back to your county party. To join the MDP, go to the state party website Michigan Democratic Party where you can pay dues and/or donate with a credit card or print an application.
If you don’t want to join the state party, you can join the county party without state membership. However, membership in the county party does not allow you to be an officer or serve on the Executive Board of the county. To join the County party, download the application: PARTY MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION[2], complete it and mail it to us at: Charlevoix County Democratic Party, P. O. Box 651, Boyne City, MI 49712.
Donations, which are always welcome, can be mailed to our P.O. Box as well. There is no limit to the amount that you can donate to a county political party; please be aware that contributions to political organizations must be reported to the Secretary of State and are available to the public. We are unable to accept anonymous donations and cash donations greater than $20. Donations to political organizations and political candidates are not deductible for federal income tax; donations of up to $50 or $100 on a joint return are deductible from your State of Michigan income tax. Dues and purchases of merchandise, including t-shirts and campaign materials, such as buttons and bumper stickers, are considered contributions and must be reported. For information regarding contributions to and expenses of the Charlevoix County Democratic Party, go to the Secretary of State website where all state, county and city political organizations must report contributions and expenses.
