Democrats propose $1B in middle-class tax credits

LANSING — House and Senate Democrats on Monday unveiled a $1-billion proposal to expand tax credits and deductions for families and college students, saying it would help reverse a shift in taxes away from corporations onto the middle class.

House Minority Leader Tim Greimel, joined by Sen. Curtis Hertel, D-Meridian Township, and Rep. Tom Cochran, D-Mason, called for new or expanded tax credits for dependent children, seniors, homeowners, and those paying for child or elder care or college loans.  Read More
