Editorial: Don’t limit access in elections

On Jan. 6, Gov. Rick Snyder signed a statute that prohibits local officials from using public funds to communicate ballot proposals within 60 days of an election.

March 8, exactly 62 days later, four mid-Michigan school districts will vote on proposals with millions of dollars on the line for area children.

It is unconscionable that Snyder, who claims he puts people before politics, would sign a statute that takes away a primary source of information for people making million-dollar decisions about their area schools.  Read More
