Michigan man who helped integrate Marines honored

Tears appeared in his children’s eyes Monday as635990001957808905-marine-honored.jpg John Jordan was honored as a one of the first African Americans to serve in the then-segregated U.S. Marine Corps more than 70 years ago.

U.S. Sen. Gary Peters said Jordan, 90, of Farmington Hills is a “true American hero” and handed him a Congressional Gold Medal and certificate for his World War II service during a ceremony at the Groves-Walker American Legion Post 346 in Farmington.  Read More
