Pulling out of Paris climate accord a ‘mistake,’ U.S. Rep. Fred Upton says

U.S. Rep. Fred Upton, the former chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said President Donald Trump’s decision to back out of the Paris climate accord is “a mistake.”

During an interview with MLive at the Mackinac Policy Conference, Upton said the agreement was carefully crafted and has many positives, including caveats to monitor countries with high pollution such as China and India.

“If they’re on, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t stay on,” he said. “For us to join with the ranks of Syria and Nicaragua as being the only countries not to sign on this, I think is a mistake.”  Read More
